Since February 1, 2016, Shelby Woodcarvers Guild, located in Piqua, Ohio, meets weekly to make cars. To date they have shared toys with Dayton Children’s Hospital to use in Easter baskets and Troy Christian School for mission trips. THANK YOU Shelby Woodcarvers Guild for creating smiles. Jim Foster states: “God is good.”
Darren Martin with Chapter Financial Resources in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, holds a car building event monthly for their financial clients who bring their children and grandchildren along to participle. It is held at their 10,000 square foot retro style Memory Lane event center. They anticipate 50 volunteers monthly. At the last event they built 1,000 cars in just 75 minutes. Yes, you read that right! THANK YOU to Darren for hosting the event, and Frank and Jeri Stand for supplying the car parts to assemble.
Note from Doug Card: “This chapter of TFGK really got started because my father-in-law, Lowell, who lives next door, was looking for something new to do with his scroll saw. My son, Daniel in Orange City, Iowa, put me onto the organization and I thought it would be great for Dad. To make a long story short, he is cutting out cars at the rate of 70-80 cars per day. So I called in some friends to help me in my shop to make wheels and to do the finish work. Our little group has grown to about 15 on any given Wednesday. They are all retired guys and love the fellowship, but mostly love the purpose they have in making all those smiles!”
